We are delighted to announce that Qwickhose® recently won the 2022 GIMA Innovators Seed Corn Fund (GISCF) at Glee Birmingham!

Each year the Garden Industry Manufacturers’ Association partners with the UK’s leading garden and outdoor living trade show, Glee – which this year was held at the NEC Birmingham between 28th-30th June.

The team from Rivendale products were there manning the Qwickhose® stand – and were thrilled to accept our first ever award for the Qwickhose® range!

What is the GIMA Innovators Seed Corn Fund?

The Innovators Seed Corn Fund is designed to offer the most innovative and unique new garden living product at the show an opportunity to launch with the best possible impact in the packed UK gardening products market.

This year, it will be aiding us to launch Qwickhose® by way of a £6,000 grant to help with development and marketing costs – including one year’s GIMA membership and a wide range of business support tools.

We are thrilled to be the winners of the GIMA Innovators Seed Corn Fund 2022” said Qwickhose® Business Development Manager Michelle Doughty. “When I took the call from Vicky (GIMA Director), I was momentarily speechless, it was hard to take in everything she was saying as I was in total shock and desperate to share the news with the Qwickhose® team.

“It’s such a great feeling when something we believe in, that has absorbed so much of our time over the past two years, is recognised in this way. We are a very happy team!”

Why did GIMA pick Qwickhose®?

“We are so pleased to name Qwickhose® as our eighth GIMA Innovators Seed Corn Fund winner,” said GIMA Director, Vicky Nuttall. “Not only does the Qwickhose® offering provide an alternative to existing hosepipe connectors, but it is clear from the design and construction that this is a product that has been passionately and carefully designed. I am sure this is one product garden and DIY retailers will want to see.”

About the Qwickhose® range

The Qwickhose® stand at Glee Birmingham 2022

Borne during the first lockdown when people’s attention turned more than ever to their gardens, Qwickhose® is designed to remedy the problem of standard hosepipe connectors popping off during use of your everyday garden hose. With its patent-pending winged clamping system, casual and expert gardeners alike can simply pop the hose onto the Qwickhose’s inner tube, clamp the wings shut, and secure them with the nut – then the extra-long hose connector becomes a handle.

By using premium plastic materials and doing away with the typical plastic ‘teeth’ that seemingly all modern hose brands use for garden hose fittings, Qwickhose® is specially designed to simplify using your garden hose, ensuring you won’t need to keep buying replacement parts.

“For the last 20 years, Jason, the Qwickhose creator, has been running a successful building/development company, so this is very new to us all,” says Michelle. “We’re ready to learn however and have undertaken a huge research project to create a product that we believe fills a gap in the market and can help to increase consumer confidence.

Jason Wilkinson demonstrates Qwickhose® hose fittings at Glee Birmingham 2022 “We are a family-run business,” she continues. “Our products are all designed and manufactured in the UK. We have created hosepipe connectors that utilise unique wing ‘clampers’ that are currently patent pending. Our products have no breakable teeth and are all made from UV-stabilised premium-grade recyclable plastics, supported with recyclable packaging printed with eco-friendly ink.

“We’d love to see Qwickhose® stocked in the likes of Dobbies or Blue Diamond and for our products to become a household brand as we further extend the range of products available.”
